Ode to Shows (Packing It In For The Night)

You’re heading for the club and waiting for the band to start.
There’s no one in the room, the doorman’s playing darts.
You’re staring in your phone,
thinking you should go,
maybe packing it in for the night.

There hasn’t been a soundcheck so you’re leaning on the bar.
The singer’s making rounds: it’s his night to “be a star”.
But you’re only here because the rhythm section’s tight
or you’re packing it in for the night.

You heard that the opening band got a 7.0 on Pitchfork, but why can’t they start on time? It’s never been done before!
And now they’ve got you sippin' on another Miller Lite.

Now you’re looking at the merch and everything is overpriced:
You wanna buy a shirt but they don’t have your size.
