Another great track in a long line of great tracks. Hoyer's got the gift of being able to turn storytelling into catchy pop songs. Lyrically, there are few that are able to do what he does.

about
I was in a bit of writing funk after releasing 'Getting Older' in late 2021, probably because that album was put out just before the birth of my son, who selfishly seems to demand so much of my time. Kids these days, right?
But this piece came to me after my family endured Hurricane Fiona without power for 8 days, where my infant son & I both got COVID 19 for the first time. Seeing the damage around us on PEI and feeling utterly weak in every way, AND seeing my baby so helpless, was a very difficult time. I think about it quite often, although I wish I wouldn't.
However, despite all that ruin around us, my quiet life on Prince Edward Island is quite ideal, and I hoped to reflect that in the song as well.
It seemed so closed to being finished, using some sampled piano from BlankFor.ms, but there was something missing. Over the years I've found what works for my singing voice, but COVID and some other health issues left it weakened. Or maybe I'm just not as strong of a singer these days; regardless, I felt that I needed another voice to assist me. Eventually I asked Seyblu to sing on this song, and it truly tied it together. We met in 2017, when she hosted a house concert I played in Toronto above a Pizza Pizza. She's a gifted vocalist and songwriter who put a lot of thought into this song, which I greatly appreciate.
I believe that this will be a part of an EP, but I'm still tidying that up. In the meantime, I hope that you enjoy this music.
lyrics
I'm shaking like a leaf
I quiver and I cough
and every word I said
it sounded off
I stagger up the street
I'm teething like a saw
I'm biting at the trees
that have already fall'n
But you go into the words
I know, they go
forever and ever
amen
But you go into the words
I've said before
forever and ever
amen, again again
I'm hoping on a dream
and I'm dreaming every day
and when I wake up
it's better than anything I'd prayed for
My head is in the clouds
My eyes begin to rain
my heart is heavy now
It's all the same
But you go into the words
I know, they go
forever and ever
amen
But you go into the words
I've said before
forever and ever
amen, again again

Alec Harryhausen writes very sharp songs for Dream Version (and he also plays a bit on 'Getting Older'). Check out the song 'Backdrop Painters' Doug Hoyer
Do you like GUITAR!?! If so, you will probably dig this great record. 1/3 abstract patchwork, 1/3 solid songwriting, 1/3 a sick band doing what they do Doug Hoyer
