A runaway lane is a road that you'll see in the rocky mountains. They go up the hills off the highway, and they're used for when the breaks on semi-trucks stop working. Instead of driving off of steep cliffs, these safety roads are used. I found a song in them.
lyrics
I have some friends
who like to drive their cars
round every bed
of the autobahn
They drive so fast
I just can't keep up
zoom away from the past
no reason to stop
I used to drive
down the loneliest roads
rarely a surprise
but they'd take me
exactly where I'd want to go
Oooh
Every roadside diner would know my name
'till I met you
I was fine with every day being the same
But that had to change
'Cause you are my runaway lane
You are my runaway lane
My breaks don't work
but that's okay,
'cause you are my runaway lane
I had some maps
to show me where I should be
but they were crap
and took away all spontaneity
I left them behind
with my jerry can
if I run out of gas
then I'll be left exactly where I stand.
'Cause you are my runaway lane
You are my runaway lane
My breaks don't work
but that's okay,
'cause you are my runaway lane

Do you like GUITAR!?! If so, you will probably dig this great record. 1/3 abstract patchwork, 1/3 solid songwriting, 1/3 a sick band doing what they do Doug Hoyer
